Sigrid woke early that morning brooding. She seethed at the thought of seeing that smug Cassidy after she scared Elin for fun and then laughed about it. They were once friends in school, but they fell out after Sigrid started dating Adam.

Sigrid crept out of the house, she had a little time for payback while Elin and Molly slept.

She noticed Cassidy’s dad in the window getting ready for work.

She thought about turning back but defiantly continued on to the backyard.

She took out her spray can and got started without any further hesitation.

Molly stirred, and noticed Elin getting up and going directly to her mother’s bed.

She was gone, she left without even leaving a note. Molly tried to hide her panic as she and Elin got dressed to go look for Sigrid.

Molly thought about going door to door, she was just about to knock on Johan’s door when she heard a familar clicking sound. She look around at the back of the house.

“Are you serious?” She asks in shock. “Are you seriously grafting a police lieutenant’s home while he is right behind the wall?” “We are struggling as it is, we can’t handle any fines right now.” Sigrid is taken aback, she hadn’t really thought about the weight of her actions. She started to respond to Molly but saw her daughter heading up the stairs and decided instead to take her home and feed her breakfast. She hung her head in shame.

“It’s time to go home” she said to Elin. Elin asked Molly if she was coming too. Molly smiled trying to reassure her and said she would be there soon.

Molly fumed as the cleaned up the graffiti. She was tried to cleaning up Sigrid’s messes. She hoped Johan wouldn’t be too upset.

Sigrid wasn’t a very good cook, so she found some leftover pancakes in the fridge. They were cold and tasted like they had been in there for a while.

Molly finished cleaning up and knocked she hoped she could to catch Johan before he left for work.

Johan appreciated that she was honest about it and said he would let it slide. He’s known Sigrid since she was a kid and didn’t think she meant any harm. Molly had a polite chat with him before going home.

When she walked home she could see Elin washing dishes in the sink. Sigird needed to grow up and start being accountable for her actions. Her frustrations got the better of her and she confronted Sigrid.

Sigrid’s response was unexpected. “You are right, I’ve been really selfish.”

Molly’s tone shifted. She still had a lot of questions that needed answers. Sigrid told her about her soured friendship. It started as harmless pranks but escalated and how they had been antagonist towards each other since. Molly was shocked to find out that it was Cassidy that set the fire, when she thought Sigrid was still living there. Molly took the chance to air another grievance. “Isn’t it time you were honest with your family?” Sigrid looked down at her feet. “Wouldn’t it be nice if they could be there for Elin’s birthday party?” Sigrid nodded “I will tell them, I haven’t been ready.” Molly hoped she was getting through to Sigrid but she knew this had been a lot at once.

Molly stepped into the kitchen to make some pancakes. Sigrid took the chance to exit, and went off to take a shower.

Elin had been baking muffins, they really needed more private space.

Molly heard the dreaded clank of the postbox while she washed her breakfast dishes.

She noticed Elin doing her homework and offered to help.

Sigrid sat in her room brooding and thinking about everything that Molly had said and the way she had been acting. She wasn’t used to all this responsibility, her life was so different only a short time ago.

Molly paid the bills and went to the forest near the house to look for any new mushrooms or seeds.

Sigrid started sketching to take her mind off things.

Molly found a few new ones, but wasn’t sure what they are. She carried them back inside.

She did some quick weeding and harvesting in the greenhouse. Then found Sigrid and Elin to see if they would like to go with her to The Repository to identity the new seeds.

Sigrid had been in the kitchen talking to Elin about Spooky Day. She wasn’t one to apologize but she promised to do something special to make up for how badly trick-or-treating went the night before.

They all shared a taxi. Molly wished they could afford more bikes but they needed another wood stove first.

They arrived at the Repository. Sigrid gets a mysterious phone call.

Elin heads outside to play with the chicks.

Molly takes the seeds to the potting shed to identify them. They are unlike any she has seen before. She decides to sell them instead of giving up valuable greenhouse space to check if they will grow.

Sigrid paints in the loft.

Molly makes some jam and gathers some honey from the beehives while she is there.

They are all getting hungry. After Molly lists her newest jams for sale they all decide to to the Harvest Festival together.

It’s not far away so they walk together.

Sigrid and Elin ride the roller coaster.

Molly enjoys a cup of coffee.

Afterword she gives Elin a hayride.

Elin sees the haunted house from the track and asks to go in.

Afterword they ride the carousel.

Molly browses the farmer’s market and picks up a cake for Elin’s birthday.

Happy Birthday Elin.

They all have cake, it wasn’t the best but they were hungry.

Sigrid knew it was time, she sends a text to her family telling them she would be home for a visit soon.

While they were out they had the back porch covered. Molly put a divider in the bedroom so Elin could have more privacy now that she was older. She took the new space behind the dining room as bedroom and office. Now, if she could only replace her computer.

Sigird went to sleep in her new space, she was grateful to have warmth after the chilly roller coaster ride.

Elin had never had her own room before. She happily crawled into bed.

Molly skimped a little on the renovation for her space, but was happy to have a room to herself agian. She didn’t have a light yet but she hoped to sell more things and buy one tomorrow.

  1. It is good to see that Molly and Sigrid finally had that much needed heart to heart talk.. It is also good to see that Sigrid took it in positive way and is trying to make amends.. I really like the screenshot of the Harvest Festival and the farmer’s market..
